About this event

In Primary Colours, your group works together to create a large painting. The painting is an original, unique ‘one-off’ masterpiece that captures the essence of your team and your organisation.

The activity highlights that all staff / teams are part of a ‘bigger picture’ and the importance of working together to achieve an outcome.

Before the event, our illustrator creates a one-off, unique black and white illustration based on information you supply to us about your team/organisation. This forms the basis of the painting. The illustration builds on your key themes and graphically depicts who you are and what you do. The illustration is shown to you for input/sign off prior to the event.

The picture is divided into sections and on the day, your group is divided into smaller teams. Each team is issued with one section of the picture. Each team must re-create their section of the picture (in full colour), so that when all the sections come together at the end, the painting is totally aligned! Teams must firstly work together to work out what the big picture is and where each section fits. The catch is that the teams can not show each other what are doing – everything must be worked out via communication and collaboration!

Teams interact with other teams in the ‘collaboration zone’ to agree on specifications, colours and measurements. Time ticks down until teams put down their brushes and breath a sign of relief!

This is combined with a prize giving and awards ceremony and can also include a facilitated de-brief of the process and outcomes.

This interactive and challenging team event demonstrates perfectly the importance of working towards the bigger picture while keeping your eye on the detail and collaborating across teams.

The final painting is yours to keep and proudly display as a lasting memento of a fun and memorable team experience.

Client review

"We all had to get into teams on Friday morning and answer five questions. One was 'what was the best part about the two days?' Every single person said your part."
